Light French Toast with Caramelized Apples

A Canadian Favorite, perfect for a leisurely breakfast

Ingredients for 4 servings
3 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. brown sugar
4 tbsp. Irish cream
4 apples, peeled and diced
3 eggs
200 ml (3/4 cup) milk
125 ml (1/2 cup) Irish cream
8 slices of raisin bread

Place the butter, brown sugar, 4 tbsp. Irish cream and apples in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until slightly thickened.

Place the caramelized apples in a rectangular baking dish.
In a bowl, beat the eggs, milk and 1/2 cup Irish cream. Dip the bread slices in the mixture one at a time until they absorb the liquid.

Lay the bread on top of the apples in a single layer.
Bake in a preheated 375° F oven for 30 minutes or until the egg mixture is cooked.
Serve the French toast topped with the apples, accompanied by your favorite syrup.
