It’s That Time of Year Again ~ Time for Samuel Adams® Noble Pils
By Mike Newford
Brewed with all five Noble Hops for a distinct hop character and fresh taste, Noble Pils is a transition brew created to take drinkers from the heavier winter brews (Samuel Adams® OctoberFest and Winter Lager) to the lighter, more citrusy brews of summer (Samuel Adams® Summer Ale).
Deep golden in color and still with a slight citrusy hop aroma, Samuel Adams® Noble Pils is a traditional Bohemian Pilsner. The honeyed malt character from traditional Bohemian malt is balanced by delicate yet discernable floral, citrus, and piney noted from the Noble hops. This crispness and refreshing taste earned Noble Pils the 2009 Beer Lover’s Choice® elected, voted on by over 67,000 drinkers.
Of the over 100 varieties of hops in the world, only five are judged “Noble hops,” and Noble Pils uses all five: four are from Germany (Hallertau Mittelfrueh, Tettnang Tettnanger, Spalt Spalter, and Hersbrucker Hersbrucker) and one is from the Czech Republic (Saaz).
The complex hops flavors in Noble Pils stand up well to spicy cuisine like Indian, Thai, and Mexican. The citrusy and floral notes also complement the acidity in tomato-based Italian sauces and help lighten the taste of cheese and pasta.
Samuel Adams Noble Pils is available nationwide as of mid-January. For more information on Samuel Adams brews, history, and more, visit www.samueladams.com.
