Where should you go tonight for good food, drink and company? That’s an easy one. Just head over to Tailgaters Grille at 521 Main Street in Clinton, MA. It’s everything you could want in a bar and grille ~ and more.

I know what you’re thinking ~ Clinton? Really? Yes, really. As owner Dean Weeks says, “You’d think you were in Boston, but you’ll actually say ‘Wow, this is downtown Clinton?’” A former firefighter of 24 years, Weeks, along with his wife Doreen, has devoted his efforts to Tailgaters.

Open only 10 weeks, Tailgaters has already seen great success. “We already have a bunch of regulars,” Weeks says. “People don’t just come here to eat and go, they come to eat, relax and socialize.” The cozy atmosphere sure does allow for some serious socializing. The brick building is covered in sports décor ranging from baseball to Nascar to hockey to motorcycling, and the collection of genuine autographed memorabilia adds to the “sporty” feel. The unique set-up is filled with booths, high bar tables and a U-shaped bar. “It is impossible to look anywhere and not see a flat screen,” Weeks adds, so you’ll never miss a second of any game. There is also a private lounge intended for private parties or meetings with plush couches and tables and ~ best of all for when the cooler weather returns ~ a fireplace.

Although still working on special events, the restaurant already has secured many sports figures to take part in the fresh success that is Tailgaters, including former Bruins players visiting to narrate a game and sign autographs. Keno will also be coming soon to Tailgaters, as will other great entertainment.

Another feature is the outside deck overlooking Main Street. “We serve food out there, and you can drink on the deck too,” Weeks says, making it a point to add, “We have really, REALLY cold beer. It is chilled at 38 degrees. No matter what, it’s always cold.”

Speaking of food, Tailgaters serves everything from appetizers, burgers, steaks, and pasta to seafood and daily specials. The price range for food runs from about $7 to $14, with the exception of twin lobsters at $24.99. What a deal!

In its short life, Tailgaters has already been voted Best Burgers, Best Value Restaurant, Best Family Restaurant, Best Place to Drink, and Best Date Place. “It is truly exceeding our expectations,” beams the proud owner.

Tailgaters goes beyond just a grille. “One of our regulars said it best,” Weeks recalls. “It is more than a place to eat or drink, it is a destination.”

Tailgaters is open daily at 11:30am. Sun –Wed. It’s open until 11pm, Thurs –Sat. until 1am. Want more info? Call 978-368-1122 or check out www.tailgatersgrilleclinton.com. See you there!
